Special Council Meeting
5-3-99
Page 2
Mr. Buckholtz asked about a compromise of 5 poles (decorative lighting) in certain areas.
Mr. Muhlbach said maybe we could utilize 5 poles in certain areas such by concessions and the
bath house and use a few of the heads on the higher lights to give the illumination needed for
security purposes. Ten lights are generally what we would need to get the general illumination if
we went with shoebox lighting.
Mayor Rinker said the decorative lamp will throw out a broader spread.
Mr. Muhlbach said it is a top mounted light so you get light down at the bottom but it does light
out. You get less light from those than from the shoebox--less focused. He was talking
approximately $4,500 per pole for the decorative lighting; $3,000 is to switch from shoebox to
decorative fixtures.
Mayor Rinker said we were looking at illumination for security and after discussion it was
determined that 6 high and 6 low lights would be a reasonable number.
Council President Marquardt said would it be feasible to put 6lights in that plan.
Mr. Muhlbach said we could spread it out more; 20 are pretty spread out already.
Council President Marquardt asked if anyone wished to make a motion on Option #3.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to use Option #3--security with the night
swimming lighting in an amount not to exceed $92,000.
Council President Marquardt asked if there was any further discussion.
Council President Marquardt said options 1 and 2 will satisfy security. Mr. Busa said he is not
qualified to vote on this issue.
Mr. Buckholtz said he wants to make absolutely sure that Mr. Muhlbach knows that everything
is going on grass, not on the deck.
Mr. Muhlbach said we will try to keep all the wiring outside the deck.
ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills
and Dr. Parker
NAYS Mr. Fixler
ABSTAIN: Mr. Busa

Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
