The concept has
been around for decades. Now there is the impetus for thing to finally be
built because it has to be built. The Clean Water Acts was a mandate of
general principles. The fact of the matter is that the sewer system is
something that will have to be installed. If there is some kind of delay, if
there is some way to deal with it--we will explore that. I don't think you will
find that the answers would be any different a week from now than they are
today--as to the necessity to the sewers--that they will have to be built. If there
is a way to bring public pressure to find public funding, I am all in favor of
that.
Mr. Fixler said he will take two more (comments.from the audience.)
L,ynn Scasny, 648 Meadowood, said the problem is not so much information
at this point--the bottom line is these people need a commitment from you to
assist them in finding the funds. -
Mayor Rinker asked if she was aware of what was done for the Issue II
funding. It was a major accomplishment. He will redouble efforts to bring
what powers we can bring to bear.
Mrs. Scasny said people are frightened for their future. There are people who
are thinking this will change everything they have planned their lives for. If
it means there are other things in this Village we have to give up to redirect
monies--maybe that is something we can look at.
Tim Scasnv, said this couldn't be a better evening then when you are
discussing budgets. You already have something on your plates that you
have already agreed to pay for. Flushing toilets is a priority as well as ball
diamonds, etc. He is encouraged they are going to keep looking for funds, but
he would like to hear some more commitment in how the City is going to
help us.
Council President Fixler said if they want to go next door, they would
certainly be happy to answer questions at that point.
