Regular Council Meeting
7/17/95
Page 4 -
Mrs. Nassief said Mayor Rinker read a letter that said that Wilson Mills access had to
be done and that it could not have access from Beech Hill.
Mayor Rinker said Mrs. Nassief had not made the last meeting; she had indicated
she had not gotten notice in time. He was sorry she was not here because one of the
discussions (and Mr. Koren has never made any false representation as to what his
intentions were and he has made no bones about the fact that he has wanted not to
have access off of Wilson Mills. This has evolved over several months. In all of
this, if anything has been consistent, it has been an effort to see if we could reconcile
differences and educate ourselves as to what is being done here. To suggest that
there is some kind of subversion here is not correct. Mayor Rinker said the Fire
Chief has indicated that he has some difficulties accessing off of Wilson Mills; there
is a dispute as to whether certain equipment could get in off of there. He does not
think ultimately, from a safety standpoint, whether the access is off of Wilson Mills
or if it is off of Beech Hill is going to make a major difference: He thinks it has come
down to the desire of the property owner to be able to utilize this access off Beech
Hill which he is entitled to do because he only has one property that is buildable and
he is entitled to have frontage on a dedicated street. The real question has been who
wants it to go where.
Mrs. Nassief said that would be fine if it was to the present lot--Lot E and she does
not think anyone objects to that because it would be legal for him to put a driveway
to Lot E.
Mayor Rinker asked if it makes a difference whether he is going to an existing house
or not.
Mrs. Nassief said that she has spoken to Mr. Diemert about this when we first had
the discussion and she was specifically told that the residents on Beech Hill were
very well protected and she thinks that was even an exact quote.
Mayor Rinker said we have made a concerted effort to get the consensus from people to get their opinions to change the discussion on this. This started out with a
number of lots, we are talking about one house back there, maybe. He does not
expect anyone who lives there will be too crazy about the thought that someone is
going to build there. At the same time, this is a property that has been there for a
long time that, theoretically, is buildable.
Mrs. Nassief said he has Lot D the way it presently is with access to Wilson Mills.
That is what the deed is and that is what was stated and reaffirmed at the first
discussion that this was brought up. Now, all of a sudden, there is a big change.
