Regular Council Meeting
8-16-99
Page 6
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
A motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of-$ 2,632 to Lucent Technologies
Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Busa, made a motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of $
2,632 to Lucent Technologies.
Mr. Brett said this is for the labor portion ofrepairs--the overall cost was $34,000; the actual
equipment was covered by insurance. We are responsible for the labor.
Chief Mohr said the tower at the Fire Station was struck. It came in through the conduit at Village
Hall. Everything was down. Our maintenance agreement picked up everything but the labor.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
A motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of $ 2,535 to Greg Miller (Note: This
amount includes the monthly retainer of $535.00 for July)
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Buckholtz, made a motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of
$ 2,535 to Crreg Miller.
Dr. Parker asked about limiting the number of calls to each home.
A brief discussion was held at this time--the number of calls beyond which to be considered
excessive was discussed. Perhaps six would be the "magic number."
Mr. Buckholtz said at the time this animal warden was hired we discussed having someone check to
be sure there weren't unsanitary conditions, garbage or and open space under a building that would
encourage the presence of animals.
Discussion was held about having residents share the cost.
Mr. Busa said, for the record, that some people take advantage of a good thing. He humbly suggests
that someone be appointed by the Mayor or Council President to ask people what they think of the
service. He believes he is gouging the Village unnecessarily; he has a good thing and he knows it.
This is a service, a courtesy. Let's find someone else.
Mayor Rinker asked Mrs. Roman to call some of the residents on the list and evaluate the service--
see if they were aware of the number of times the animal warden visited their home and if they were
satisfied.
