Regular Council Meeting
12-13-99
Page 10
Finance Committee - Dr. Parker said there is only one change to the agenda. Item #6 would be
to authorize $44,500. If there is no objections, he would like to move that items 1-12 were
approved by the Finance Committee and move along. (The agenda is attached to the minutes.)
Hillcrest Council ofCouncils -Mrs. Cinco said there was no report.
Historical Societv -Mrs. Mills said~Mr. Plastine reports the following: work is continuing on the
one-room school house. We now have a potbellied stove for this classroom. Our annual Turkey
Raffle on November 20 was a great success. A survey will begin on the replacement of the 40
ceiling light fixtures on the second floor of the Historical House. Our Potluck Supper held on
December 8 was attended by many. No one left hungry.
M.A.R.C -Mrs. Cinco said M.A.R.C. met last Thursday. Because of the timing of the meeting,
she doesn't have the minutes. We had a nice discussion with Barb Gyulai about co-sponsorong
programs with the School District. It works well how South Euclid Lyndhurst handles theirs and
we are attempting to do much the same kind of programming.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said we met November 22 to review the proposed
sign ordinance amendment and we decided to keep it as is. The main thrust of the language is,
"Any illuminated signs within areas of the building that are visible from the public right-of--way
shall be removed by December 1St, 2000." Mr. Samac will try to enforce that and make the
rounds when necessary to let these people know this is in place. The committee also discussed a
proposed amendment to Section 1321.03 of our Building Code which states that continuous
footers with a masonry foundation be in place for all future sunrooms, patio enclosures and
three-season rooms. This is to ensure the safety of the residents.
Planning and Zoning -Mrs. Mills said the Commission met December 6 and acted on the
following items: Assisted Living Facility at the Midvale Site -Preliminary site plan approval
contingent upon the Corps of Engineers approval of the Wetlands. Mr. Hovancsek has received
a copy of the preconstruction notification data from Nationwide Permit 26. We also recommend
to Council approval be given for the vacation and consolidation plat contingent upon all items
listed in the Village Engineer's later letter dated December 6. We also recommend to Council
that concept approval be given to the design [for S.O.M. Center Road} as designated on Boards
2S and 3N with the suggestions grass medians be in the appropriate and safe places.
Recreation Board - Mr. Buckholtz said due to the holidays, and the Santa ride and parry will be
held this Saturday, the next Recreation Board meeting will be January 19 at 7:30 p.m. At the
January 19 meeting, we will continue to discuss Parkview development and shade structures for
the pool. Also, the teen advisory board at Mayfield High School will reconvene to put a student
survey together of activities that can be planned and interfaced with other activities that are
ongoing in other communities.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said we have had to cancel the meeting for this
month. I will try to reconvene one as soon as possible after the first of year.
