142
Regular Council Meeting
10/17/88
Page 14
Mayor Carmen asked if bids had been received for the work if it was
being contracted out or if we were doing the work ourself.
Mr. Amendola said that he had received bids. The lowest and best bid
was by Robert's Roofing.
There were no objections.
Mr. Amendola, said that Mayor Carmen had a small bag of ground stone
(called ice bits) in front of him. He said that it is a substitute
for salt in temperatures below five degrees.
Mr. Petschauer asked which material was least expensive.
Mr. Amendola said that the volume of salt is greater than the stone
would be, therefore, it would be just about equal.
Mrs. Mills, asked when the work on the catch basins will begin.
Mr. Hovancsek said that the catch basin work will begin about the end
of this week.
Bob Leppla, Co-Chairman of the Worton Park Homeowner's Association
(in the audience) said that they have not had a chance to review the
plans prior to tonight. He said there are two issues that they had
raised previously. He said that they had asked that the 90' buffer
zone not be violated and that it be enhanced with mounding and/or
trees. He said that they have cut into the buffer. He explained
that they would be grading down and ripping out trees and putting in
pine trees at least 10' into the 90' buffer.
Mr. Rinker said that the letter that Mr. Hovancsek had written and
the response from him deals directly with that issue.
Mayor Carmen said that it is our understanding that the 90' buffer
will not be touched and they have said that they will be doing
additional plantings within the 90' buffer.
Discussion was held about the buffer.
Jeff Schiemann - said that they had two requirements:
1) a mound in addition to the 90' buffer zone
2) that the mound would run the entire length of the driveway.
He said that it does neither of those now.
Mayor Carmen asked if what they are proposing is better than what we
have now. He said if it is not, then we might want to tell them to
leave it the way it is.
Mrs. Mills said that Mr. Schiemann and Mr. Leppla could attend the
Planning and Zoning Workshop Meeting on Thursday here at the Village
Hall at 7:30 p.m. She asked that copies of the signed agreement with
Progressive be sent to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:43 p.m.
