107.
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
August,l8, 1986
The CounciT of the Village of Mayfield met in Regular Session on Monday,
August 18, 1986, at 8:05 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall.
Council President, Richard C. Efizler presided.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Roll Call: Present: Messrs., Basile, Etzler, Flynn, Goley, and Petschauer
Absent : None
Also Present Were . Mayor Carmen, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Hovancsek, Mr, Toth,
Chief Stevens, and Chief Hejcl
OPEN PORTION:
Mr. Florian Rickey, 6128 Wilson Mills Road, stated he had been reading the paper
on the barrier issue in Worton Park. The thing that gets him is the fact that
no one is concerned with the traffic situation on Wilson Mills. He has been here
for a good number of years and it's apparent that not much is going to be done.
People are appreciative of the Mayor's efforts but the real problem is the traffic
when there is a double feature. The NFayor of Highland Heights doesn't seem to be
concerned with our traffic problem - nor does the owners of the Front Row Theater.
It.seems to him that there should be something legally wrong, here 'that no one is
looking at. They are causing the traffic and yet Mayfield Village has the problem.
Mayor Carmen stated that they have met on three different occasions in the past
month or so. The first time was with Mr. White of Eront Row to express the
Village's displeasure with the lack of cooperation. The second time there was a
meeting with the technical people, Chief Stevens, Lt. Cook of Highland Heights,
Jack Jay, George White; the third meeting was with the technical people and
Mayors - however, signals were crossed and Mayor Hughes.didn't show up. At this'
third meeting some suggestions were made: to put overhead signs to alert people
of two lines to enter, move the cars more quickly.:to the rear parking - there
were a number of "solutions" - it is recognized that these solutionsare not
goi_ng to stop the problem - but help. His suggestion is to open Miner Road,
try to implement a system of selling parking tickets along with the show tickets
to expedite the parking along with others that are being taken into consideration.
Unfortunately, it .is a public road and it cannot be blocked to reroute the.normal
traffic which is getting heauier as time passese They are trying to relieve the
problem and will continue working on it. There are some long term solutions
being considered which cannot be revealed at this time. He realized this is not
a good answer at this time but they will continue to work on a solution to the
situation.
