96
Special Council Meering
6/4/90
Page 2
Mayor Carmen said he thinks what everyone is saying is right but he thinks they are talking about a
couple of different things that aze inter-related. He said they need to prioritize the items--whether
they are more interested in pursuing a municipal complex or purchasing the golf course or possibly
doing both. Mayor Carmen said he thinks if they would meet with the contractors on an informal
basis and tell them what we want that their price would be less than half.
Mr. Hovancsek explained that the low point is east of the ball diamond by the creek. It will take
about $20,000 to do the storm sewer, inlet and catch basin work.
Discussion was held about the bids received.
Mr. Pietrafese said they are sitring with the kids not having a place to play.
1V[r. Rinker said they should not try to do a"cadillac" field this summer.
Mr. Amendola said they tried to obtain a roller/dozer to grade the fields and get rid of the lumps of
clay and then roll it. They can not put grass in now; the season is gone. They could make other
decisions after this season and plant grass for next year.

Mr. Pietrafese said he would like to see drain rile put in this year. We could borrow a straight-blade
grader from A&J if we need it. He said we should talk about putring lighring and drainage in at the
same time so the field would not have to be dug up again.
Mr. Fixler said that after the fields are graded, they will not be able to be used for 4-5 days or more
after it rains. He said that we have the monies from the children to play ball.
Mr. Pietrafese asked if there were any alternate playing areas.
Mr. Ross said the School Board will give us three fields at the High School on the weekends. The
fields at Lander and Gates Mills could be used. He could put something together piecemeal but the
people would have to go all over the place and it would mostly be on weekends.
Discussion was held.
Mr. Hovancsek said the center of the diamond should be built up and we would need to get the
sewer to drain by the creek. He knows a contractor who does hydroseeding. Within 3 weeks the
grass would look like carpet.
IVIr. Ross said he would like to start the teams piecemeal.
Mr. Pietrafese suggested starting the season in July.
Mrs. Mills asked Mr. Amendola to obtain an estimate for the grading work and for Mr. Hovancsek
to get an esrimate on the hydroseeding.
Mayor Carmen said that Council could authorize work on the fields up to a certain number of
dollars now by morion.
