M <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />8/20/90 <br />Page 2 <br />COMIVIENTS FROM MAYOR CARMEN <br />Mayor Camien expressed thanks to everyone who attended and participated in the 50's Cruise <br />Night. He said there was a spectacular tumout--estimates were that there were 700 anrique <br />vehicles and between 6-10,000 people actually here. The response from Yours Truly and <br />Wheezers was good. Mayor Carmen said we are considering holding another event next yeaz. He <br />expressed special thanks to Donna Heath and Lisa Kusner who spent a lot of time putting the event <br />together, to the Council members who attended, and to Chief Stevens. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCII. PRESIDENT MII,LS <br />Mrs. Mills said she had no comment at this time. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />There were no comments. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Architectural Review Boazd - Mr. Amendola reported that a single-family residence, 2 additions, a <br />garage, a dish antenna, a sign, and a fence permit were approved at the last meeting. <br />Board of Apneals - Mr. Amendola said the Board met and granted a variance for a residential <br />idenrification sign. <br />emete - Mrs. Cinco said there was no report. <br />Citizen's Advisorv Committee - Mr. Pietrafese said they did not meet. They will be meeting on the <br />27th. <br />Commission on Agin? - Mrs. Mills said the Commission is still having crafts and picnics in the <br />park. <br />Finance - Mr. Flynn said the committee considered the following: Ordinance No. 90-53 (requests <br />that it be placed on first reading), Ordinance 90-35, and Ordinance 90-36. (see Finance Committee <br />Minutes 8/20/90.) <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mr. Ferrante said they met July 21. The subject of that meeting <br />was cable television. There was a presentarion made by Jim Thoreu, Vice President of Metro Ten <br />Cablevision. He said he sent Council a copy of the brochure. Mr. Ferrante said it was the <br />consensus of the majority of Council people in attendance that the matter is well worth looking into <br />(the matter being having more than one cable company.) Mr. Fenante said that Mr. Feneli was the <br />guest speaker. He said that the best way to regulate the cost of anything is to have competirion. <br />Qath of Office <br />Mayor Carmen said that one of the 2 full-time patrolmen slots in the Police Department was <br />recently filled. He asked Patrolman Richard Edelman to step forward to receive the oath of office.
