September Zy, 1990
Mr. Sandy Bordonaro
6843 Metro Park Drive
Mayfield Village,;Ohio
? To the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village:
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to
the...Golf Course Acquisition Committee. This committee
spent many hours on this project and held several meetings. We
took this as a very serious worthwhi-ie.assignment. One of the
projects we undertook was to speak with.officials from several
other communities who had acquired and operated their own
municipal golf course. Without exception, each person we spoke
with had a very positive.attitude..and told of the financial
success they have.exper.ienced.from- acquiring the.golf course.
The many benefits to be derived from the purchase of
-Park_View Golf Course are so numerous that I will not get into
all of them at this time. However, to mention a few of the
benefits to MayfieldVillage that you cannot ignore are the
preservation of the green area, the benefit of -r.ecreation for
. young and old alike, and allowing the;vil_lage to have some
control over the last large, 1and,area.?.'Most.Uillagers moved -
here'with the hopeIIof having and maintaining a rural type
`community. With the purchase of Park View we can accomplish
this. Plus, and this is a big plus, the fact that it may well
pay for itself, ultimately costin.g the7illage little or
nothing.
This is no pie in the sky, but a real worthwhile golden
opportunity for.you to take a giant -step forward. No doubt
about it, this wi11 t.ake guts to implement, but you have
before you the first step which is to approve and implement
the recommendation of the Golf Course.Acquisition Committee
which was voted on and approved b.y an overwhelming majority
of its members whom you appointed. In closing, I would like to again thank you for giving
me the opportunity to serve on.the committee and implore this
council to vote publicly on the recommendation of the Golf
Course Committee. This important issue-requires action now.
This is not something that can be put on the back burner.
It is now or never. Your constituents are at least entitled
- - - ° to• -?cnow vhere `pou stand on this important issue.
From one Villager to another•,
-?
? i
? ?,
