r?- -y
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
May lst, 1989
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, May
lst 1989, at 8:15 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Mayfield Village
Hall. Council President Santo Basile presided.
Roll Call: Present: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Mills,
Mr. Petschauer, Mr. Rinker, and Mr. Santoro
Also Present Were . Mayor Carmen, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Hovancsek, Chief
Mohr, Mr. Patrick, Mr. Ramos, Chief Stevens, and
Miss Heath.
Mr. Basile said that the purpose of the special meeting was to discuss
approval of a site plan for a building addition for Euclid Industries.
He explained why approval was needed (which is included.in Resolution
No. 89-29.) Mr. Basile said that the Planning and Zoning Commission
met this evening and gave a conditional approval to Euclid Industries
for the revised site plans for their addition. He said that the
Commission had asked him to bring it to Council for approval.
Mr. Ramos explained that this approval could be done by motion,
however, he has drafted a resolution. He said the resolution contains
a history of what has transpired in the past and what action Planning
and Zoning has taken in the past. Mr. Ramos distributed copies of the
legislation to Mayor Carmen and Council. He said that Mr. Robert
Schulte, Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, was here in
case anyone had any questions to ask him. Mr. Ramos said that Euclid
Industries had submitted a letter agreeing to certain conditions for
the approval and that a copy of the letter will be attached to the
original resolution.
Mayor Carmen explained that originally Planning and Zoning had
required that they obtain an easement on the Highland Road Baptist
Church property before they would approve the site plan for the Euclid
Industries addition. He said that since they were unsuccessful in
doing so they asked him if there was another way to resolve their
objective. Mayor Carmen said that Mr. Hovancsek had determined that
another way to accomplish their objective was to put a retention base
on their property. He thought that was an impractical alternative
because of the cost, however, Euclid Industries said they could do
that. He said that they asked Planning and Zoning if they would grant
approval as long as they agreed to either put in a retention facility
or to obtain an easement. He said that the contingencies for approval
satisfied Engineer Hovancsek and that the Planning and Zoning
Commission recommended it to Council for final approval.
Mr. Flynn asked if Mr. Hovancsek had additional details about the
retention facility.
Mr. Hovancsek explained that it has not been designed yet but that they
would have more than enough land to put such a detention facility.
