Iqa
Note: Please refer to the "Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council for Workshop
Purposes" for formal minutes including an accounting of inembers present and
adjournment information.
Mr. Rinker suggested Council go over the proposal paragraph by paragraph. The
following is excerpted from comments and discussion held during the Special Meeting of
Council for Workshop Purposes.
Mr. Flynn: #l locks you in and does not work to our advanta.ge. #2: We do not know the
gross for the last few yeazs and do not know what the amusement tax (3%) will amount to
in 20 years--it may be a good sum.
Mr. Rinker: Feels it is a modest figure. If we were to acquire the property we would not
be collecting amusement tax.
Mr. Busa: What is the annual intake of amusement tax?
Mr. Rinker: $12,000 per annum.
Mr. Flynn: Golf course taxes may be 3 years in arrears.
Mr. Basile: Did not think they have found what the income of the golf course was--the
Golf Course Acquisition Committee was never able to find out the income per year.
Mr. Flynn: Thinks it would behoove us to get the golf course up-taspeed on their current
obligations.
Mayor Pietrafese: Mr. Flynn asked me to check into the amusement tax, I have asked
Joseph Diemert to look into this. He thinks the number is low and thinks you have to build
the cost into what we aze paying them.
Mr. Fixler: If we did not pursue this plan or eminent domain proceedings, would the
zoning remain in effect?
Mr. Rinker: Yes.
Mr. Fixler: One-third of the golf course is wetlands. Any developer would know that.
The sewer line will probably not be there for five years so no one will be able to develop
the property for 5-6 years. If we do not do this, will we proceed with the lawsuit? Are we
in a position where we must do one thing or another?
Mr. Rinker: As far as the development goes, we feel sensirive. We want it to remain
residential. The benefit is we would have a mutual land contract; real good value in
retaining the golf course.
Mr. Fixler: On Sunday, he walked the are a between Highland Road and the golf course.
If we do not act on this agreement will we proceed with eminent domain?
