.. .. ~~~ <br />MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />Village of Mayfield <br />July. 2 , 1.980. _ , <br />The Council of the Village of Mayfield inet in special session on <br />Wednesday, July 2,"1980 at 9:00 A.M. in the Village Hall. Council <br />President, Alan. Bennett"presided. . <br />Roll Call: Present: Messrs., Bennett,"Carmen,.Flynn, Mrs. Hanus, <br />Mr. Spellman and Miss Trask <br />Absent: None <br />Also Present: Mayor Beebe, Mr. Avery anc7.'Mr. Amendola <br />Mr. Bennett stated the purpose of .the meeting is to appoint a <br />replacement for the unexpired term of Mr. William Boger who <br />resigned on April 4, 1980. <br />Mr. Bennett said in view of those present in the audience, he <br />would have an Open"Portion to the meeting"and suggested those <br />desiring .to speak state their name and address"and hold their <br />message to no more than five minutes. <br />OPEN PORTION <br />Mr. Edward Schulz, 6862 Metro Palk Drive, stated this was an <br />unusual time to_b'e holding a public hearing and presume Council <br />is here to fill the vacancy on Council. He would Pike Council <br />to consider. Mr. Bob 5chulte.or Harold Rassatz. Their services <br />have been excellent over the years and are fine, hard working <br />people. Mr .,.Schulte has served on Councils He did no.t get <br />defeated at ari el'ectiori but "chose t~o resign --arid has .now made . . <br />himself available again. He would hope that Council would"not <br />go down the line and choose the next~~°:highest person on the last <br />voting ballot as traditionally done-. TYie.people have defeated <br />this person.. They are tired of the disillusion and .expressed <br />their desires by no.t voting for these people. There should be <br />_ a balance on Couri'cil of free' thinking individuals who are riot <br />objecting to the thinking of the Administration. New people <br />were voted ~n and that should tell Council what the people want. <br />The people have expressed a definite desire for a change and .. <br />would hope that Council would take thisinto consideration when <br />,making ther.decision. <br />'Mrs. Rosomande Peters, 6160 Hemingway Road; stated she has been <br />a resident for over 10"years and would like to express to Council <br />the importance of taking the time to check the opinions of the <br />people"-and not act' hastily _in making this "decision. <br />Mr. Bob Kreckel., 52 Zorn Lane, stated he remembers the election <br />and believes the 2 - 1 vote, against those next in line should <br />indicate to Council the people's choice. Mayor Beebe won .the <br />election by a large majority and hope that.Council.:"will consider <br />this and realize the people do not want the defeated candidate <br />in office. ~ ` <br />
