The °°Replacement Survey" was conducted between the
dates of July 7 and July 13, 1980. The questions were posed
over the telephone and all responses have been recorded on the
tally sheets, copies of which are attached. Only registered
voters were contacted. When possible all registered voters
within a residence were polled. Due to time constraints the
sample was limited to 505 Village residents. A11 residents
whose names appeared on the Board of Elections roster of regis-
tered voters were called at least once. Many, although not all,
of those who were not home when the first call was made were
subsequently called back.
The following is a summary of the results:
=~ Question One Responses:
For Busa°s Appointment (104) 20~
Against Busa°s Appointment (280) 56~
Undecided (121) 24$
TOTALS (505) 1000
56~ of all persons polled were against Council appointing VD.nce
Busa. As can be seen from the vote total, the feeling was very
strong, almost 2-1/2 to 1, that if Mr. Busa is to serve again
he should do so by winning in a general election. The results
are made even more dramatic if the undecided vote is removed
and only those caho voted "yes" or "no°' are considered. Without
~ the undecided vote the sample size is reduced to 384 people and
_ the relative percentages become 73~ against Mr. Busa's appointment
~~~.
