Special Council Meeting
1-13-97
Page 3

AT & T - Antenna Tower
Mr. Jason Bradford of AT&T explained the proposed lease option agreement which is basically
to replace the existing Nextel tower with another, higher tower that AT&T could use. He asked
if everyone had copies of the agreement.
Mrs. Cinco said Council received copies in their packet.
Mr. Bradford explained it was not possible for AT&T to locate on the existing structure because
there is no loading capability. He said it would give ownership back to the City and would have
room for Nextel, the Village, AT&T and one additional spot for future use.
Mr. Brett asked about equipment storage.
Mr. Bradford said they do not want any shelter outside the fire station. They propose to either
store the equipment in an underground vault which pops up or-expand the existing building with
a 300 square foot room with a matching facade. They will visit the site Thursday, then present
the Village with 2-3 solutions and find out what is best for us. There is not enough room for
them to locate in the same room as the Nextel equipment.
Mayor Rinker asked if there were any changes to the tower.
Chief Mohr said the proposal is to build a new tower beside the existing tower. After the new
tower is up, the existing tower will be taken down. (This is so we don't lose service.) The old
tower is 120 ; the new tower will be 190'.
Mr. Bradford said pursuant to his discussions with'Joe Diemert, since this is city-owned
property, it would be' exempt from zoning regulations but it needs to be reviewed by the A.R.B.
Mr. Bradford asked if Council will be able to take a vote on the tower at their regular meeting on
January 27.
Mayor Rinker asked if the lease is severable from the other issues. As long as the two are
severable, he does not see a problem.
Council President Fixler and Council;concurred.
HVAC Contract
Mayor Rinker said no other contractors come close in price.
