Regular Council Meeting
11-17-97
Page 12
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
There were no additional matters before Council_
CLOSING COMIVIENTS
Mr. Busa questioned why Frogressive would bypass a P&Z workshop which he read in the last
minutes.
Mr. Saxnac said they bypassed the workshop for the storage of the soil.
Mr. Samac said he believes everyone received a copy of a traffic improvement study for the
Progressive property. There should be virtua.lly no impact (for the additional parking.) He asked
if anyone had questions.
Dr. Parker asked how it will impact the traffic at #hat intersection.
Mr. Buckholtz said he read the traffic study. It mentions that N.O.A.C.A. wiil be doing their own
study on I-271. He asked if they will see the Parsons study.
Mr. Hovancsek said he gave N.O.A.C.A a copy of the study. Their study will be done in 60 days.
Their study must be done by them in order to get the Federal funding to do the ramp interchange.
Mr. Buckholtz said when N.O.A.C.A did the big study it was based on 2,300 cars and we are
over 3,000. He wandered if N.O.A.C.A realized that and if tha# will be included in -the new study.
For the record, a Iot ofemphasis here is tlus wonderful development that we are ali working on so
diligently in the northwest quadrant and we are trying not to duplicate mistakes or aversights that
happened in Worton Park with the Progressive World Headquarters. He believes it was
mentioned by Mayor Rinker looking to Ordinance Review about the number of parking spaces
per , and occupancy per land use, these kinds of tliings.
Mr. Hovancsek agrees somewhat that the traffic problem is significant; however, the impact study
and when the ramp work gets done and when they add the third lane on each side it will
significantly help that azea. Higtiland Heights is planning on vrridening a good portion of Alpha
Drive to 3lanes. At the intersection of Alpha and Highland, there will be left-turn lanes added
both eastbound and westbound gaiaig into and out of Alpha Drive. T'hat should malce that more
desirable for people to use. That means there will be more traffic on HighIand Road which will
relieve some of the pressure on Wilson 1Vlills-and Alpha. As the Engineers in Highla.nd Heights,
they prepared that plan and have it ready now. There is sorne additional funding being sought.
ADJOURNMENT
Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to adjourn.
