MIlVUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
August 21, 2000 ,
The Council of Mayfield Village met for a Public Hearing on Monday, August 21, 2000, at
8:05 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room Council President Pro Tem
Stephan Parker presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua, and Dr. Parker
Absent: Mr. Buckholtz, Council President Marquardt and Mrs. Mills
Also Present: Mr. Brett, Mr. Diemert, Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. Metzung,
Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Roman
Ordinance No. 2000-16, entitled; "An ordinance revising the zone map of Mayfield Village,
Ohio so as to amend the use classification of certain Village land to Single-Family Residential
(U-1.) Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 6-12-00;
Second Reading Cr19-00; Public Hearing, & Third Reading 8-21-00.)
Mr. Diemert asked Mr. Samac if Plarixting and Zoning made a decision on this.
Mr. Samac~ said they had no objections. Planning and Zoning had actually
recommended a different zone classification for some of those properties in addition to
what was there. That was rejected by Council. Mr. Samac said he is not sure if this
proposal came back to Planning and Zoning but they have no objections to it being
rezoned.
Mr. Diemert said 4 votes are needed for passage.
Dr. Parker said since it is a major change in zoning, he would like to wait until
tomorrow night to vote--unless someone feels differently. We would have more input
from Council then. Dr. Parker asked Mr. Diemert to read the letter Donna had received
from Mayor Rinker.
Mr. Diemert read the memo from Mayor Rinker to Donna of August 21, 2000 re Public
hearing on Legislation for Rezoning. (A copy is attached to the minutes as a permanent
record.)
Mr. Brett said from an Economic Director's standpoint, we purchased property as it was
zoned and paid for it at a premium. By changing everything to residential, I think you
are undermining the value of the assets you own. If that is what Council and the
electorate wants to do, I think you will be devaluing the assets you paid for.
