Regular Council Minutes
4-26-04
Page 3
the resolution introduced by Mayor Bruce G. Rinker and Council as a Whole. [Mr. Buckholtz
read Resolution No. 2004-10 as follows.]
Resolution No. 2004-10, entitled; "A Resolution in Tribute to Lawrence J. Flynn." Introduced
by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 2004-10.
Council President Buckholtz said our hearts and sympathies go out to you and your family.
Mayor Rinker said it came to our attention on Larry's passing that there was a wish that there be
a donation to some charity-one of which was Mayfield Fire Department. We felt that a good
way to commemorate Larry's service and his good name and memory through the Finance
Director Phil Brett would be to dedicate an AED unit for Center School. This is something that
we feel there is a need in all elementary schools but Center being Mayfield's own, this is
something that is going to be a gift of life for potential emergency situations. These AED units
are basically self-operating. Anyone can use them. The goal is to provide first aid emergency
care for someone who would be in need. We hope that is something that will serve Larry's
memory well.
Mrs. Cinco said she hopes everyone sees the information in the paper and will send in
contributions.
Mrs. Judy Flynn said Larry was also on one of the original Charter Review Commissions and on
other committees as well. He kind of started out at the bottom, then was on the Charter Review
Commission and then was on Council. I can remember many a day standing out with an
umbrella holding out the emery boards. Thank you very much.
Council President Buckholtz presented Judy Flynn with the Resolution in Tribute to Lawrence J.
Flynn.
Council President Buckholtz said we have an amended agenda. The items that were amended
were the minutes from the March 22nd special meeting were removed; they are being updated
and slated for approval in May. Kurtz Brothers super p.o. - the amount has changed from
$5,000 to $10,000 and there should be a report from Finance Committee on that; added Change
Order #1, extra work for S.O.M. Center in the amount of $6,473.88 for URS; added a 1997 Olds
Regency 98 vehicle for sale and added the section regarding letters from the Mayor for the
Conservancy and Metroparks.
Mrs. Mills said in Finance Committee, Mr. Brett informed us that the amount for the change
order for URS is $349.35.
Mr. Brett said and that is for Great Lakes Construction; not URS.
Council President Buckholtz questioned if that is instead of the $6,000 and Mr. Brett confirmed
it is.
CONSIDERATION OF MINLTTES
