Regular Council Meeting Minutes
5-18-09
Page 13
. Motion to authorize expenditure in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 for the 2009
Appreciation Dinner.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to authorize expenditure in an amount not to
exceed $10,000.00 for the 2009 Appreciation Dinner.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
Mrs. Mills reported that the Committee has met. We formulated the plans. Ms. Wolgamuth went
out and got prices on the food, etc. The p.o. and memorandum that she sent around is very self-
explanatory. The Mayor was gracious enough to say we can do this again. What happened,
people thought maybe they were left off the list this year because we had many people saying,
what happened? Where's the Appreciation Dinner? Mrs. Mills thinks this is a good thing.
Mayor Rinker stated for everyone's benefit, the plan is really kind of a novel one, to have an
outdoor luau and talce advantage of celebrating 10 years at the green, clean Parkview Pool.
Council President Buckholtz asked, 10 years?
Mayor Rinker replied, July 3, 1999, a date forever etched in stone.
Mayor Rinker continued, in all candor, we realized the date had gotten away from us. We were
looking for ways, candidly we have all been more conscious of some of the expenditures, Mayor
Rinker's understanding is this $10,000.00 really is a ceiling. We anticipate spending significantly
less than that. The memo covered all that ground, but overall, it's a good way to recognize all of
our volunteers and have a good time and do it at a fraction of the cost that we spent before. We
think if this works, we will probably do this in the future. It's a nice change of pace.
Mr. Thomas asked what the date is on that again.
Mrs. Mills replied, July 31St at 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Parker asked if we had a rain date.
Mrs. Mills replied we have the Community Room reserved in case it rains.
Mrs. Mills added, we will be serving approximately 185 guests. That's a good price for what we
got.
Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco,
Mrs. Mills, Mr. Marrie,
Dr. Parker Motion Carried
NAYS: None Expenditure Authorized
ABSTAIN: Mr. Marquardt
