Regular Council Meeting Minutes 5-18-09 Page 22 Mayor Rinker stated you are assuming that once you sell the mineral rights you can subdivide them again. You can't. Mr. Triner said the lease says it will continue as long as they are operational. If they come back and they are going to redrill a deeper well, who says they are going to share it with anybody. Mayor Rinker said you may be right if they can sell off those mineral rights then there's no limitation. Once they are separate, they probably have one lease covers all. Mr. Triner added in light of some of the other larger companies pooling millions of acres of these leases, you don't know what could happen to your property. Council President Buckholtz stated at that point the only decent thing they could do is buy everyone's house from them and do what they want. Council President Buckholtz asked if there was anything else. Mayor Rinker reminded everyone of the Memorial Day Services. He appreciates Tom making the announcement. Just so everyone knows, for the last couple years, Merv and Mary Singer have really taken the bull by the horns. This is something started years ago and candidly in the last few years they have had a hard time pulling things together so we really appreciate the fact that Merv and Mary have kind of revivified this effort. At least if Council people can get out there on Saturday and/or Sunday, that would be great. It's a nice way to recognize something that's important. They make a point of doing it on Sunday as opposed to Memorial Day itself because they want to try to compliment the services all around. It's something we can do locally.
