Regular Council Meeting Minutes <br />7-20-09 <br />Page 4 <br />ENGINEERING - Tom Cannello <br />Mr. Cappello provided an update on the roadwork in the local areas. <br />Mayfield Road, which is affecting the Wilson Mills traffic due to the ramp closures - the <br />entrance ramps will be open to traffic either Tuesday or Wednesday evening. This will help <br />traffic on Wilson Mills Road. The exit ramps should be open to traffic on or about the end of <br />next week, Friday, July 31". The concrete pavement and substantial project completion is <br />scheduled to be done by the end of August. September will be the month in which there will be <br />final landscaping. <br />River Road Bridge is tentatively scheduled to open to traffic on August 19`h. The construction <br />will continue. Traffic will be open. This project is an incentive project, so if the contractor <br />opens before August 19th, he gets a bonus. If he opens it after August 19`h, he gets a penalty or <br />has to pay a penalty. Again, that project is scheduled to be completed October 15`n <br />The Mayf'ield Road bridge project by Chagrin River is scheduled to be completed October 15tn <br />also. <br />Ridgebury Boulevard - Mayfield Heights gave the County permission to extend the project, so <br />the limits which were originally from Richmond Road to Lander have been extended from <br />Lander to SOMe As you probably know right now, the work is being done on the north side. The <br />south side is one-lane traffic eastbound only. At the end of August, they are going to switch <br />traffic and fihey will be doing work then on the south side with traffic still eastbound one lane. <br />On October 12th, they plan to open it up to two-way traffic. The surface will be installed during <br />that time. Between the 12t' and 30g' of that month, they will finish topping the road and putting <br />the new surface on it. <br />Seneca Road is scheduled to begin at the end of July, eazly <br />August. That should take approximately 30 days to complete. The contract says 45. <br />Thornapple Pump Station/Ravine Sanitary Sewer - At this time, there is a pre-construction <br />meeting scheduled for this Thursday. After that meeting, Mr. Cappello will either write a letter or <br />e-mail update people on the status of that. The contractor would like to partially install the sewer <br />portion this year and at least pave that. There is a six month or so lead time on the pump station. <br />Once the shop drawings are approved, they have to get it manufactured. <br />LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Ms. Calta <br />With regard to the Red Flag policy up for Council's consideration, Ms. Calta mentioned at <br />Caucus that she would get some information from other communities that have put in place the <br />Red Flag policies. Between Cheryl in Fire and Mary Beth in our office, the Village of <br />Middlefield, the City of Willoughby, the City of Geneva, the City of Macedonia, North <br />Royalton, Tallmadge and Chagrin Falls have all put in place Red Flag policies.
