Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
January 30, 2006
Page 5

Part-Time Employees
1993: 58
2006: 92
109 (Seasonal; most of them are
Mayfield School students)
Land Owned
1993: 13 acres
2006: 168 1/z acres
Revenues in General Fund
1993: $3.8 million
2006: $12 million (estimated)
Budget - General Fund
1993: $4.3 million
2005: $12.53 million
This amount does not include all of the assets and other projects
we have going on. That number can go much higher.
Buildings Owned:
1993: 7
2006: 16
During 1993 through 2005, we have looked at a lot of changes. Our 2020 Master Plan
Group met a few years ago and made its recommendations. When some of the things we have
done since that time are catalogued, it is pretty amazing. We installed two major water lines.
We built a fire station. We worked on a sewer project in the Worton Park neighborhood, along
SOM Center Road. We are looking at further sewer projects along Highland Road, Thornapple
and have been trying for the last few years Metropark and Eastgate and Meadowwood. The
County put in the trunk sewer on SOM Center Road in 1997. It's hard to believe it has been
almost 10 years since that line went in. Since that time, look at Progressive's campus, we built
a swimming pool and put in the North Commons Recreation Complex which includes the
wetland preserve. We now have three softball fields up north and those will be ready for play
this spring. We have three soccer fields, two which have been functioning for a few years now.
The third one will come on line probably in another year, by the fall or next Spring.
