Minutes of the Safety and Service Committee
February 6, 2006
Page 5
will immediately be able to talk for reservations of the picnic shelters and for other applications
as well. They will have access control. Chief Mohr added that this system would allow for
checkpoints for buildings such as this building so that we could be issued swipe cards to be able
to walk into the building. It would be time-stamped and dated. We could do this throughout the
building. This program will also make i.d.'s to be issued to everyone. We would be allowed the
flexibility of not having all of our data at the pool. If a storm or vandalism should ruin one of the
pool computers, it is now safely on the server.
Mr. Thomas added that we are trying to save money, but we have a shared folder and
might need to make an additional purchase of an item. Chief Mohr explained that from a
franchising standpoint, the software is based upon the number of users, meaning the number of
computers tied into this We are putting it on an application server. The programs don't get
backed up, but your data does. It is a technical issue. You need to back up the data which is
flexible and changes every day. You just reload the programs if there is a problem because you
own the disks. The issue at hand is that we have a license for two computers for this software.
You take a picture with a camera. That data was put on the computer down at the pool last year.
Now it will be to take a picture and the server will back it up. The question is then does the
server constitute -another computer. That is what the question is now. We might have to buy
another license in order to have that. Dr. Parker stated that if they are reasonable, they should
not consider the server as another computer because it is not really a functioning station. Mr.
Thomas reported that it would cost $1,195.00 for another license. Chief Mohr indicated that we
are arguing the fact that no one is going to go to the basement and use the'server, it is just a
depository for the data. It is a shoebox. We will look at this this month to get it going. This
item will be sent to finance.
Softball complex Parking/Wallis Architects' Invoice No. 0794 ($3,781.00)
Mr. Thomas reported that these items are really tied in together. The highest priority for
us is to complete the parking situation. We have been working with Jim Wallis on designing that.
There is a meeting tomorrow at 1:00. We are getting closer in finalizing our needs and how it is
going to be laid out.
Youth Adult Sports Coordinator
Mr. Thomas reported that we are interviewing 16 candidates this week. We will be
narrowing it down to four by next week and hopefully make a decision. Mr.1Vlarrie added that it
is interesting that there were 95 applicants.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
Respectfully ubmitted,
?
;
;
Mary . etsa
