Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Apri124, 2006
Page 19

First Reading of Ordinance No. 2006-11 "An emergency ordinance authorizing the Mayor to
enter into an Agreement of Cooperation between the Board of County Commissioners and the
Village of Mayfield for the replacement of Wilson Mills Road Culvert No. 9 over Beechers
Brook in Mayfield Village, Ohio." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Saponaro, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council
requiring an Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Saponaro, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2006-11.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
Mr. Cappello indicated that this is the agreement between the Village and Cuyahoga County to
replace the bridge over the culvert over Wilson Mills by D.O. Summers. It is for fiscal year 2008.
We have some time to get some additional funding through Issue II. The bridge is in need of
replacement. The surface is pretty bad. We are looking to widen it and do some channel work also,
opening it up. It is an area which has a lot of debris accumulating under the culvert and up
between the houses. We have to clean this out every so often. The service department has done
some repairs. There was a hole punched through the deck. Otherwise it is in pretty poor shape.
Mayor Rinker noted that for future reference when the actual culvert work is done, we have slated
that as one of the areas where our service department will then replace the walls on either side.
Right now, there is an industrial grade piping which looks pretty unsightly. The goal will be not
only to improve it so there won't be a constant chronic problem but then once this work is done we
can then do a little embellishment that we think will do a lot. It sits right there next to 271.
Mr. Buckholtz added that at the proper time we can let the Beautification Committee know what is
going on.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 2006-12 "An emergency ordinance authorizing the creation of
a youth/adult sports coordinator position in the Village's Parks and Recreation Department."
Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
