1V??IELD VILLAGE
6621 Wilson Mills Road Mayfield Village, OH 44143
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES
440.919.2332, ext. 187 - 440.461.7349 fax
Eunice G. Kalina, M.A.
Director of Human Services
DEPARTMENT OF H[JMAN SERVICES
COiINCIL REPORT FOR APRIL 24, 2006
The Human Services Department sent packets to all Mayfield Village residents
containing a letter introducing our department, a newsletter, a survey to determine needs and
interests, and a flyer announcing the demonstration of the electronic voting machines which will
be used in next week's primary.
Response has been very good with 35-40 people coming to the voting machine program
and approximately 70 persons returning the questionnaire to date. In addition, several people
have registered for trips and volunteered to teach classes and have offered other suggestions.
We have scheduled an AARP Safe Driving Class for two Wednesdays in July. This is a
program suggested by one of our residents. Some insurance companies offer a discount for
seniors who have completed this program.
Meals on Wheels has four new volunteers thanks to the request posted on the Village
marquee a few weeks ago.
The Card Group continues to meet Tuesdays and Thursdays although we will not meet
Tuesday, May 6 because of the election.
Our trip to the Ma1tz Museum Apri13 was very successful although we did not have as
large a response as we had hoped for. We were able to secure a van instead of a bus so the cost
was not prohibitive.
We are working on the Anniversary Party scheduled for Saturday, May 13.
We have established a partnership with Mayfield Community Education (Adult
Education) to offer programs such as exercise, line dancing, and mahjong instruction.
Respectfully submitted,
Eunice G. Kalina, M.A.
Director of Human Services
EGK/djr: COA report 04 24 06

Bruce G. Rinker
Mayor
