A`.::r _??? • .
BRUCE G. RINKER
Mayor
1!?/IAYFIELD VILLAGE
1
6621 Wilson Mills Road Mayfield Village, Ohio 44143
CQMMISSION ON AGING
(440) 461-2210 ext. 289
Fax (440) 461-7349
EUNICE G. KALINA, M.A.
Director of Human Services
DEPARTMENT OF HLJMAN SERVICES
COUNCIL REPORT FOR MAY 22, 2006
The anniversary pariy May 13 was a great success despite having a smaller crowd than
usual. We have decided that Mother's Day weekend is probably not a good time for this event.
Our July mystery train trip in conjunction with the Recreation Department is filled. We
still have space on our June 16 trip to Medina.
The surveys returned by our residents indicate a great interest in having computer classes
and a movie get together. We will need a projector or large screen television and a DVD player.
We will distribute complete results to Mayor Rinker and Council. If anyone else would like a
copy, please contact the department directly.
We were surprised that very few residents who returned surveys indicated a need for
transportation. Pursuant to a suggestion by a villager, we looked into ITNAmerica (for
transportation) and found that communities must provide $125,000 for their first year of
operation. We are. exploring other avenues for transportation.
We have scheduled a nuxnber of classes such as Tai Chi, line dancing, and an AARP Safe
Driving Class. We hope to implement a game/puzzle afternoon (probably Mondays) and a
coffee klatch type of get together Thursday momings.
The Card Group coritinues to be a very congenial group. We now have two groups of
"duplicate bridge players" joining us monthly.
EGK/djr: COA report 05 22 06
Respectfully submitted,
8 l? ?
unice G. Kalina, M.<t-
Director of Human Services
