Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />July 17, 2006 <br />Page 2 <br />COMMENTS FROM MAYOR RINKER <br />Following 10 years of service to Mayfield Village, Lee Stone will be retiring. Mayor <br />Rinker presented a resolution of appreciation to Lee Stone, Resolution No. 2006-10. <br />Mr. Saponaro, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to approve Resolution No. 2006- <br />10. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Resolution Adopted <br />Lee Stone asked if she could report on the Relay for Life which took place this past <br />weekend. Lee presented an award for display for collecting between $2,500.00 and $5,000.00. <br />We beat our totals from last year. <br />Mayor Rinker added that this is the forth year for the event and it is a rain magnet. The <br />first year there were maybe 10-12 teams in all. This year, there were 27 teams and 7 different <br />communities. It has come a long way. <br />Mayor Rinker also reminded everyone that this Friday at Noon there will be a luncheon <br />for Lee at Civic Hall. <br />Council took a break for cake and refreshments while the Resolution was being signed. <br />Council reconvened at 8:25 p.m. <br />Lee Stone relayed her appreciation for everything. It has been a great 10 years. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BILL BUCKHOLTZ <br />Bill Buckholtz asked for a report concerning the recent Sister Cities Conference attended by <br />Joe Saponaro, Joanne Cinco, Patsy Mills and Jeff Thomas. <br />Joe Saponaro reported that he put together and is passing around a notebook with information <br />on the conference, membership directory and information regarding Sister Cities for everyone to look <br />at. He also shared a commemorative book entitled, "50 Years of Global Citizenship". Every <br />participant received this book. Joe indicated that this was the 50~' Anniversary Conference of Sister <br />Cities International in Washington D.C. <br />Our goal in attending was to gather information about the program introduced initially to us by <br />Dr. Price from the Mayfield Schools for possible participation. The mission of Sister Cities <br />International or SCI is to promote peace, mutual respect, understanding and cooperation, one <br />individual -one community at a time. <br />~l <br />1 <br /> <br />
