Minutes of the Council Meeting
November 26, 2007
Page 17

First Readiniz of Resolution No. 2007-18, entitled: "A resolution supporting the preservation
of customer choice though Ohio Electric Governmental Aggregation." Introduced by Mayor
Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 2007-18.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. There were no comments.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
CLOSING COMMENTS
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any additional comments.

Mrs. Betsa reminded everyone of the employee Christmas party scheduled for this
Friday. She has tickets with her if anyone needs them.
Mrs. Mills thanked the Service Department for all of their help with the Garden Club
Craft Show which was a success again this year. The Service Department will be decorating the
Village for the holidays this week.
Mr. Marrie asked if anyone has had any problems with Time Warner since they took over
Adelphia, for example, stations like 3, 5 and 8, freezing up? They stay in one position for 20-30
minutes.
Mr. Marrie also asked if there will be a manger across the street at the Gazebo this year.
It was discussed last year. Pricing was looked into. Are we going to have one? Mayor Rinker
indicated we would not. Mr. Marrie asked why. Mayor Rinker advised that we have tried to be
egalitarian in the way we celebrate the season. That's too specific. Mr. Marrie did not want to
sound nitpicky, but we have a Menorah which is very religious, and he has absolutely no
problem with that, having attended the ceremonies. Mayor Rinker stated that we have generally
found it to be successful and if it ain't broke, why fix it. Mr. Marrie had a different opinion to
that. Dr. Parker echoed the Mayor's sentiments. Dr. Paxker does not know whether we can
judge or value what symbols are important to different groups of people. We have tried to be
egalitarian and inclusive without being intrusive on people's feelings and thoughts. The
perception perhaps could be that that would be a more religious symbol as opposed to a symbol
of the spirit of the holiday. Christmas trees are the spirit of the Christmas holiday. The Menorah
is not as much of a religious thing as it is a spiritual thing of the holiday. Mr. Marrie stated that a
manger is a very spiritual thing also and he does not think it is intrusive to anyone.
