Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, September 19, 2016 <br />Page 5 <br />all "A"s. It's a very unfair system. We have lobbied to the State. But once our kids get used to these <br />tests, you are going to see their scores go back up. That's going to be the path. <br />We are doing well. Reaching our full potential.. For example, this past year, our high schoolers <br />scored the highest composite ACT score in the history of a school district. We set the mark two <br />years ago and beat it this year by .1 of a point. We have snore AP Scholars. We have more advanced <br />placement courses than most school districts. Our kids do very well on those as well. <br />Adapting curriculum to changing world <br />0 79% felt we were doing that. <br />Very challenging School District <br />0 82% <br />Our community loves our teachers. They know our teachers challenge our kids. This is what it is all <br />about. Mayfield and the four communities have supported programs for all kids. This community <br />has been very special, by passing tax levies, volunteering, donating money. We have a lot of things <br />for kids to do. That's what this levy is about. We need it to pass so we can continue to provide the <br />variety of educational progranuning that is the tradition of Mayfield Schools and the kids of this <br />community. That's the bottom line. <br />Are people supportive of the Mayfield Innovation Center? <br />0 86% <br />Wildcat Sport and Fitness <br />o We have 4300 members. <br />Wildcat Health and Wellness <br />o Partnership of the Cleveland Clinic for our employees and their families. This is a <br />terrific program. <br />Up and coming <br />o Middle School air conditioning - 82% said that is a priority <br />o STE2M program expansion - 92% said it is a priority <br />o Mayfield High School theater improvements <br />o Lended learning - 88% <br />o Middle school renovations <br />o Safety improvements <br />0 <br />Mr. Snyder stated, all employees took a pay freeze and we placed a cap on our insurance. The pay <br />freeze was in place 3 of the last 4 years across the board. We also included an insurance cap which <br />requires us to come back between negotiating periods. <br />90% of the respondents said they would be more likely to support the district knowing we have <br />strong financial management as recognized in recent awards as identified by the State of Ohio.
