Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, April 18, 2016
Page 18
Couizcil President Saponaro asked, discussion?
Mrs. Mills asked, Chief, would you explain to the audience please about the other coinmunities
that are involved with these?
Chief Edelman replied, this is a growing trend nationally. It's not just in the SPAN
communities. It's something that we have seen more and more of in the last few years. It's a
matter of accountability for the safety forces. We already have the in-car videos. This is
something that the officers wear under their unifoi-ins which provides another level of protectioil
and accountability not only for the officers but for the people we deal with on a day to day basis.
The units that we are looking at use the saine software and the same coinputer platfonn that the
in-car videos use so there's no additional storage fees that we have to use for the data. It
seamlessly uploads into the same computer that we use now for the in-cax videos.
Council President Saponaro asked, and then the protocol that you were talking about, the rules of
procedure? Chief Edehnan replied, this one naturally would have to come with a policy and procedure
protocol that I would have to draft one with the Law Department. We would put something
together before these are deployed. This isn't something we just take out of the box and just put I
on and use right away.
Council President Saponaro stated, thank you very much.
Roll Call: AYES: Marquardt, Man-ie Motion Carried
Mills, Williams, Expenditure Authorized
Saponaro
NAYS: Jerome
Motion to authorize expencliture in an amount not to exceed $200,000 to 1Vlotorola
Solutions, Imc. for MARCs portable radios.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a inotion to authorize expenditure in an amount not to
exceed $200,000 to Motorola Solutions, Ine. for MARCs portable radios.
Council President Saponaro asked, discussion? There was none.
Roll Call: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Expenditure Authorized
. liIotion to authoiize expenditure in the amount of $16,575.50 to Good Nature for
2016 fertilizer program.
