Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, July 15, 2013 <br />Page 5 <br />BUILDING - John Marrelli <br />Mr. Marrelli deferred for the Committee reports. <br />ENGINEERING - Tom Caanello <br />Mr. Cappello updated everyone on the road program. The asphalt resurfacing portion is <br />completed. The asphalt rejuvenation portion has to start yet. That won't take that long. The <br />Greenway Trail was advertised last Thursday and is currently out to bid. The bid opening is <br />August lst. The Highland Road Phase II sidewalk construction began today. <br />LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Joe Diemert <br />There was nothing to report. <br />FIRE - Interim Chief Gino Carcionpolo <br />There was nothing to report. <br />FINANCE - Ron Wvnne <br />There was nothing to report. <br />POLICE - Chief Edelman <br />Chief Edelman reported, you may or may not be aware, the 2013 National Senior Games are <br />being held in Cleveland this year. One of the venues for the games is going to be at our Village <br />Racquet Club beginning Sunday and for four days after that. The Fire Chief and I met with their <br />coordinators last week to discuss some safety and security issues. We got most of that down. I <br />just wanted to share that it's free and open to the public if anyone wants to come and watch some <br />nationally-rated seniors playing tennis. It should be a good time. <br />Mr. Delguyd asked, is parking going to be an issue? <br />Chief Edelman replied, no. They only expect about 30 people per day. <br />PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas <br />Mr. Thomas stated, I wanted to ditto Mayor Rinker's comment about no rain. Everyone got their <br />packet about the statistics we had for the month of June at Parkview. Believe it or not, we held <br />our own considering how many times we closed the pool. We broke a rain record of 16 days <br />straight. We were about 700 short compared to last year which was a hot dry summer. <br />We had a great turnout for the Debbie Hudacko Run. We have a 5 mile run. Then we do a Sk run <br />which is 3.1 miles and then we do a 2 mile run. There were a number of runners that ran all three <br />back to back to back. Adding the Sk run added the number of runners. I think we were over 200
