Minutes :of the Regular Meeting of Council Monday, July 16, 2012 Page 22 going to happen across the street, what's inside of your head, what's inside of the administration's general feelings or the departments as they come together for their Department Head meetings. What is the connection, what is the threat if it pulls all this together? So like I said, if we watch it closely and we watch what we are passing and we work together, it's something in Economic Development. I know the way I wanted to end this and I know how I wanted to start this. To many times we have committees just spinning wheels throwing darts at a dart board. But it's to me this is a way that we put the onus on one person who is going to interface with a lot of departments and a lot of projects. That's my final word on it. Anybody is still welcome to comment. We do have a motion on the table and we will be taking a vote. Any further discussion? There was none. ROLL CALL: AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mrs. Mills Motion Carried NAYS: Mr. Marquardt, Dr. Parker, Mr. Delguyd Ordinance Failed The vote was 3 -3. Ms. Calta reported, under the Charter, which this does not usually happen in Mayfield Village, when there is a tie, the Mayor can vote. "The vote of the Mayor sha11 for all purposes be deemed equivalent to the vote of a member of Council." Mayor Rinker stated, I am not going to vote. What I am going to do is I am going to ask that this be put on the agenda for the next Council meeting. I am going to ask that we review these questions again. I am more than a little disappointed. I expected one or two negative comments. I just learned tonight that there was a brand new issue raised at the Finance Coxnmittee meeting. This has been on our plate for some time now. Council representatives knew Mr. McKnight was going to come in. He actually wanted to make a presentation. Our goal r.eally is to get the word out in to our community that we really are proud of the way in which we are approaching these things and it's about time we did this in a consistent effective way on a lot of different kinds of projects where the aesthetics and long-term sustainability are really very important. I could vote, but I am not going to vote. I am going to ask that Council consider this seriously at the next meeting. Council President Buckholtz stated, I would, just like to say I appreoiate the position you are taking. At the same time I want to extend to Mr. McKnight, I don't want this to dampen your spirits on the Village. I am sure you looked pretty sawy and have been in business for a long time. The issue is not your work or what you do. The issue is just the mechanism of how we get to where we all want to be. Thank you. ? ?I
