Minutes of the Special Meeting of Council
Monday, May 5, 2014
Page 2
Motion to authorize the acceptance of the bid from Shannon Electric and to authorize
an ezpenditure in an amount not to exceed $65,245 which will include the $62,995 base
bid with the $2,250 contingency for debris removal and backfill for The Grove
Electrical Power and Lighting Phase 1 that will run conduit from the poles to the stage
with junction boxes along the way to provide for lighting and future electricity.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Jerome, made a motion to authorize the acceptance of the bid from
Shannon Electric and to authorize an expenditure in an amount not to exceed $65,245 which will
include the $62,995 base bid with the $2,250 contingency for debris removal and backfill for The
Grove Electrical Power and Lighting Phase 1 that will run conduit from the poles to the stage
with junction boxes along the way to provide for lighting and future electricity.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any questions? There were none.
Roll Call: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Bid Accepted
Expenditure Approved
Mr. Delguyd announced, I spoke with members of Council prior to this meeting, but as most of
you know, my house has been up for sale and it has sold. I am moving closer to some renta.l
properties that I have in Ohio City. I am also working downtown, so professionally, outside of
Council, it has become hard to manage all of the other responsibilities and I have made a
decision to move on. My last day will be May 31 st. Technically I start around the middle of
June, but that makes it a nice clean cut off. I have consulted with Mr. Diemert and will turn it
over to him for instructions on responsibilities of Council. I do appreciate the time here. I think
there's a lot of great things going on with The Grove, the CPA, everything else going on. It's a
great community to live in. It's just when professional opportunities come up, you have to take
them.
W. Diemert congratulated Mr. Delguyd. Council, as you know, the Charter provides for
Council to designate a replacement. They have to meet the qualifications in the Charter for that
particular position of mix. Council will have 30 days from the date of his departure, after which
if they do not select someone, then the Mayor can make a selection.
Council President Buckholtz stated, I am sorry to see you go. It has been a real learning
experience. You have been a bright light coming on board raising a lot of issues and delving into
projects.
Mr. Delguyd stated, obviously everyone has my cellphone number, so if there are questions on
things I was working on, ca11 me. ,
