Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, May 19, 2014 <br />Page 2 <br />- Building solid relationships <br />- Creativity <br />- Problem solving <br />I have worked at some very fine school districts. No other school district goes the extra mile for kids <br />as Mayfield Schools do. Every single person in our orga:nization. <br />We are a school district of choice with a iraditional of excellence:. It's not all about the test scores, <br />but it is what we do with the students day in and day out. What we have for students to get involved <br />in are second to none in the State of Ohio. Everyone has an opportunity to find a place in our <br />schools. <br />All of our testing scores are as strong now as they ever have been. We are hoping our performance <br />index breaks a record this year. The College Board has recognized us. There's a high expectation <br />for every student who comes in to our school system. U.S. News and World Report has ranked us as <br />one of the top schools. The Washington Post names our high school as one of the most competitive <br />and challenging in the nation. <br />The following is our 6 year vision - our quality improvement process. <br />- ST'EM2M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine) - students engage in real <br />world work in real life environment. <br />- We will be offering next year in the middle school introduction to biomedicine and <br />engineering robotics. <br />- We will be opening up a new library in 2015 with medical technologies, biomedicine, <br />computer system design and engineering. It will have a fabrication lab, a biomedicine lab and <br />an engineering lab. <br />- Handheld learning devices for the students. <br />- New teacher evalua.tion system will be in place-next year. <br />- Expanding EXCEL Tech to include welding, sports medicine and medicine and physiology, <br />linking it with our Sports and Fitness program. <br />- All buildings wireless capable. <br />- Construction of a pavilion for use by school organizations. <br />- Starting the 2015-2016 school year a week sooner and concluding a week earlier. <br />- Improvements to the HVAC units. <br />- Growing leadership, talent and professional capacity <br />o Admuustrative internships <br />o Reallocate resources to create instructional coach system <br />o Formation of a vision team <br />- Community relationships and partnerships <br />o Community Leadership Advisory Group <br />o Website redesign <br />o Marketing plan <br />o Partnerships with orga.nizations
