Minutes of the Special Meeting of Council
Monday, June 2, 2014
Page 2
Mrs. Mills asked, has a date been set for interviewing the new Council member yet?
Mrs. Betsa replied, I have received four resumes thus far. Resumes will be accepted until Friday,
June 6?'. Interviews will be scheduled for Monday, June 9?', prior to the sewer meeting
scheduled for.7:00 p.m. If additional resumes are submitted, interviews will also have to be
scheduled for Tuesday, June 10t'. I will coordinate schedules with Council.
Council President Buckholtz asked, we are closing the application submission on the 6th?
Mrs. Betsa replied, yes.
Council President Buckholtz asked; will we see those resumes in our packet on Friday?
Mrs. Betsa replied, yes.
Council President Buckholtz asked for preference of morning or evening for Council. Council
would prefer to hold the interviews in the early evening. Council President Buckholtz suggested
the interviews start around 5:30 on Monday so as to conclude by the sewer meeting which is
scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Depending on the number of applications received, we will reassess this
on Friday.
Mr. Marrie asked, how does Council vote?
Mr. Diemert replied, it will be a public vote. Your second meeting in June may be the deciding
factor. If you can't decide by then, you still have time before your time period expires and then
the Mayor makes the appointment.
Council President Buckholtz asked, do you go through each candidate publicly and everyone
votes yes and no?
Mrs. Mills replied, no. We recommend a candidate.
Mr. Marrie asked, so we recommend a candidate and vote on that one?
Mr. Diemert stated, you could go into Executive Session to discuss it. You would then go back
into public meeting and make a motion on the floor and vote on it. The first person to get the
majority vote.
Council President,Buckholtz asked, do we hold special meetings for the interviews?

Mr. Diemert replied, yes. There should be a special meeting for the interview and then
Executive Session and then your ultimate decision at a regular or special meeting.
