Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, December 16, 2013
Page 3
Mayor Rinker stated, this might be a good time to recap the year with your fmancial report.
Mr. Wynne replied, I will do that at another time during the meeting.
POLICE - Chief Edelman
T'here was no report.
PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas
Mr. Thomas reported, we had our Santa Ride this past Saturday. It's been a while since we had
that kind of weather with light snow. It was seasonal and nice. I want to commend our fire truck
driver Jason Brothers. He does a wonderful job. He is not only just a driver, but he gets down
from the truck to make sure that Santa and the elves get across the street and make sure everyone
is away from traffic. Thank you Jason for a great job again this yeaz.
Council President Buckholtz thanked Bill Thomas for a good year of activities.
ARCHITECT - Ron Dinardo
There was no report.
PLAlVIoTING DEPARTMENT - Ted Esborn
Mr. Esborn reported, I have two items this evening. The first is a big thank you to our Service.
Department. Last Thursday, QED which is one of our local businesses was having an event at
the Holiday Inn. There was heavy snowfall. QED called me on Thursday morning sort of in a
panic asking if there's anything we could do to help them clear the sidewalk of snow. They were
going to have a lot of foot traffic between their office at 700 Beta and the Holiday Inri. I told
them that it's not something that we normally do, but given the extreme weather, I would check
with our Service Department. Within an hour the entire west side of Beta was cleared. QED was
very appreciative. These little things that we are able to do are huge with businesses. I recall
about a year ago, Freedonia, another business on Beta had an issue with their intemal sidewalk
and our Building Department was able to go out and look at it that day. These little things are so
critical with businesses and they appreciate it so much. Thanks Doug and Service. The second
item, the DOPWIC update, we did get some encoura.ging initial feedback on our application.
There's a key meeting this Thursday ofthe DOPWIC Committee that I am going to go to. Rather
than give all the details of the possible scenarios now, I will wait and get the information from
that meeting and brief everybody after that.
ADMIIVISTRATION - Diane Wolgamuth
There was no report.
