Council President Bill
Buckholtz presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Marrie,
Dr. Parker, and Mr. Riter
Absent: Mayor Rinker & Mrs. Mills
Also Present: Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello (8:11), Chief Dearden, Mr. Diemert,
Chief Mohr (8:10 p.m.), Mr. Samac, Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Roman
Council President Buckholtz said we will combine the Caucus and Regular meeting since most
agenda items are the same. We will have discussion as we would before anything is voted on.
OPEN POI~'I'ION
Mary Murphy said she is on the Recreation Board and a 6-year resident on Hanover Road. She is
asking Council to vote at the September meeting about two new fields south of the pool. She
coached her daughter's slow pitch team and they played the last game played at Wiley Field 2.
She appreciates what the Village program has done. Her kids have played in Mayfield Heights
and Highland Heights but the Village program is neighborly, casual and competitive at the same
time. She hopes they will consider two fields for summer 2005. She appreciates everything Bill
Thomas and Danielle Yarcusko have done and hopes Council will consider it with an open mind.
Mike Rustak said he is a Mayfield Heights' resident and has been a coach. The 2 little fields
have been tremendous. They used to play at the Wiley field that is now gone. The coed team has
played at Wiley One. Two more fields would benice-and he is asking for lights but won't ask
for a scoreboard.
Joe Prcela, President of the Aintree Homeowners' Association, would like to see if we would
have the hinds appropriated for traffic studies at Raleigh and Wilson Mills. He would like to see
any past studies. He has talked to Chief Dearden about this. That intersection has been discussed
because it has been a problem.
Paul Mlynek, 6514 Chase Drive said his wife was in an accident there. She was exiting Raleigh
turning left on Wilson Mills Road toward 271. Our experience has been we have had several
close calls at that intersection. He has talked to Chief Dearden who gave him an update and said
he would try to apply for grant monies. Chief Dearden suggested he survey the neighborhood.
He has.the survey results here. Thirty-four residents were asked a number of questions. Mr.
Mylnek cited survey questions and results. He hopes we could think of creative ways to make
that intersection safer. He is talking about people turning right without seeing the light. We have
