Regular Council Meeting
4-18-OS
Page 16
communities are actually out there trying to bring these type of technology people and businesses (
that are going to be creating jobs for a community to their town. In response to the question that
was just asked, one of the reasons why you would do this is that other towns are out there
competing for this business and they are willing to help pay for the jobs that are there. I think a
technology park or a technology dent in the park is a wonderful way to look at this and it is
something that is up and coming and will provide the park with a brand new feel to upgrade jobs
for the community. It fits in with the 2020 Vision eventually creating the housing concept, the
retail as well as the business. And the investment we are talking about doing here is a shared
responsibility between myself and the Village to bring new jobs and to.bring people to this
Village. So we are hopeful that Council will look at this as a way to recreate this park in a brand
new vision for nearly 2000 versus what it has been in the past so that is where we are coming
from and we think would be an excellent addition to the Village.
Council President Buckholtz asked, is there a way that I may ask you to describe are there
improvements that you will be making to the building as well to accommodate these-is there a
capital investment that you are making as well-into the long-term, short-term of this?
Mr. Panzica, said in conjunction with my fiance, Cathy Horton and myself, we created this Panzica
Investment Company. The purpose of this company is to create opportunity for young businesses.
This is not businesses that are not proven. They actually have a proven product and they can actually
go to the market and they can produce this product. What we are doing is we are providing a space
for small companies in a larger space so we are going to take a large space and we are going to
provide shared services for these businesses -which means we are going to help provide thein with ;
secretarial services, legal services and everything else they need to help them gow so the overhead is
not as high as it would be as if they had their own space. So we are contributing our part to that and
we are asking the Village to help to draw in the jobs that they bring to the Village to help with the
part that we requested in this resolution. So, that is what we are bringing to you.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any other questions, comments?
Mr. Jochum, 7107 Wilson Mills Road - Chafrman of 2020 Vision Committee - said one
comment. When I heard about it I was encouraged to see that Mayfield Village is stepping up to
the plate and may be doing something no other community has done. While I have not run the
numbers, I leave that up to Phil and I think if Phil has recommended him, I think the Village
is well served by his advice. I think it is a step in the right direction so I encourage
passage.
Council President Buckholtz said that is an interesting.point I never thought of. He hasn't done
so bad so far.
Mr. Jochum said like I said I don't understand the numbers like Phil does and I think if Phil is
recommending it, we should be for it.
Mr. Marrie said I think it is an investment and the best way to look at it is as an investment on
behalf of the Village to bring potential business. I realize none of it is nailed down. I missed an ?
earlier meeting and I have only been involved for 3 or 4 years here, but Beta Drive has been
