-
-?
1
6459 Derby Drive
Mayfield Village, Ohio 44143
February 1, 2001
Dear Mayor Reinker and Chief Mohr,
w? V' l
UMC&
On Thursday, January 4 my family and I had the opportunity to deal with a group of
paramedics from Mayfield Village Fire Dept. My mother, Helen Beemer, had suddenly
become ill experiencing great numbness in her left arm while she was at Dazzler's on
Wilson Mills Road. I was called to pick her up and it was my intent to take her directly to
Hillcrest Hospi#al. However, when she informed me of the severity of the pain and its
location I immediately thought it was a heart attack as she is a cardiac patient and was
experiencing signs.
Instead, I went to the fire station to seek help. The paramedics on duty immediately
attended to her and within a few minutes had her in the ambulance and were administering
tests and evaluating her situation. They determined it wasn't her heart but an embolism in
her arm. As she was transported to Hillcrest, the hospital was informed of her situation and
they were ready for her when she arrived. After his evaluation, the doctor concurred that it
was indeed an embolism. The vascular surgean was summoned and surgery was
pertormed that evening.
I'm happy to report that Mom has recoverd well and is back to normal, thanks to the fine
care she received throughout her ordeal. We all want to thank the fine gentlemen who
attended to her that night. Not only did an emergency room nurse praise their actions and
diagnosis, so did her personal physician, Dr. Scott Madwar. Our appreciation and respect
to to Mike Girbino, John Panzero, AI Taddeo, and Bryan Sustin. These men were
courteous, caring, efficient, knowledgeable and obviously very well trained. We'd also like
to commend Mayfield Village for providing such excellent personnel and services to its .
residents. We are definitely proud to belong to this fine community.
Sincerely,
?u& ?(. ? v c,,-
f? ?
Nona and Phil Stella
r?
? ?
