Regular Council Meeting
9-24-01
Page 8
Mr. Brett said I handed that out to Council.
Several members of Council said it was in the appropriation ordinance.
Mayor Rinker said I just want to make sure we are all on the same page. We have already done how
much work this year on the roads?
Mr. Cappello said the number in here, the $195,889, [on the agenda] is actually the base bid. That is
the contract that we awarded originally. The alternate they are talking about--Option One is
Alternate A. That was for $186,769. That would include resurfacing Hickory Hill using a geogrid, a
crack non-reflector type of material. There was an Alternate B which uses a standard geotextile
fabric of $136,000. The number here reflects the base bid. Option A would be $187,000 and Option
B would be $136,000. That is construction costs--not including engineering or inspection.
Mayor Rinker: I confess, I am confused because I thought, because I heard about this earlier today--
that this is now talking about resurfacing a concrete street which we haven't done that before--am I
correct?
Mr. Metzung said no.
Mayor Rinker: So, I just want to understand--what was everyone's discussion--was it between
Safety and Service, between the Finance Committee--because we are talking over and above what
we have already committed this year. -
Mr. Brett said right, it is an additional cost.
Mayor Rinker: I wanted to make sure we are all on the same wave length as to what kind of
expenditures we talked about in the program because we have already spent how much?
Mr. Cappello: We are going to be close to that. We have a contingency asnount in the base bid so
we are going to be pretty close to the $195,889.
Mayor Rinker: That's for?
Mr. Cappello: Work we are doing presently.
Mayor Rinker: Which is concrete work on what streets?
Mr. Cappello: Hickory Hill, we are doing work on Kenwood, Oakwood, one small section on
Aintree and some work on Brainblewood, I believe, and Wildwood. That is concrete section repair.
That is just patchwork. Then we are doing Hemingway and Joyce resurfacing and...
Mayor Rinker: For asphalt.
