Regular Council Meeting <br />3-20-00 <br />Page 2 <br />Mayor Rinker explained the agenda was revised to include Resolution No. 2000-03 for Council's <br />consideration. We share certain resources. Health care issues are not going to get any simpler. I <br />think we should stand up and take note so I asked for this item to be on tonight's agenda. <br />CONNMNTS FROM COUNCIL` PRESIDENT MARQUARDT <br />Council President Marquardt had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Service - Mr. Metzung said Chief Mohr and I met with the Assistant Commissioner for the <br />Water Department last Tuesday to discuss our concerns about water main breaks and hydrant <br />repairs. He said we could contact him directly when we have any concerns. They are pleased <br />with his response. <br />Mr. Diemert said his only comments are on contract negotiations which would be better <br />discussed in Executive Session. <br />Chief Mohr said Hillcrest Hospital's emergency room is closed again. We will be transfening to <br />Lake West. <br />Mr. Brett said the appropriation ordinance needs to be passed this evening. It can be amended. <br />He will get a hard copy to everyone as soon as possible. This was discussed by the Finance <br />Committee. He said he was open for questions. <br />Mr. Thomas said the Youth MBA program ended March 11; 150 students participated. The <br />feedback we have received has been extremely positive. On March 16, 600 students attended the <br />Battle of Bands at the High School. Mr. Thomas said Mr. Buckholtz attended with him. We <br />tripled our attendance from the November Battle of the Bands. Eight bands participated. Mr. <br />Thomas named the 1'`, 2na and 3`d place winners. There was also karaoke. We have over 150 <br />Mayfield Village residents participating in the Progressive Fitness Program. We are taking <br />registration for the excursions. We have two full buses for the MGM excursion. <br /> <br />STANDING COMNIITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Roma.n reported the Committee met earlier this month. We are <br />getting ready for the upcoming events--Pancake Breakfast, 'SOs Night and Fourth of July. If <br />anyone wants to volunteer, please contact me. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Metzung reported for Mr. Samac (who was on vacation) that <br />they met March 9 and approved an addition to a single family dwelling and a new single family <br />dwelling (contingent upon the applicant obtaining a front setback variance by the Board of <br />Appeals.)
