Regular Council Meeting <br />5-15-00 <br />Page 2 <br />Council President Marquardt asked if we ever considered holding it in the Fire Station. <br />Mayor Rinker said that would be a thought. Chief Mohr could not make it to tonight's <br />meeting because his father is recovering from surgery. <br />Mr. Thomas arrived at this time (8:08 p.m.) <br />COIVIMENTS FROM COUlVCIL PRESIDENT <br />MARQUAIZDT <br />Council President Marquardt had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Building - Mr. Samac said he received an application from City Signal Coxnmunications <br />with their plan to install a fiber optic netvvork in the Village. The cable will be on the <br />existing utility poles on the south side of Wilson Mills and Lander and cross back and <br />head north on Miner into Highland Heights. He sent a copy to the Village Engineer. <br />Dr. Parker questioned the purpose of the line. <br />Mr. Samac said they will be renting out the line for various fiber optic purposes. <br />Finance - Mr. Brett said he sent Council a prelimuiary analysis of a proposal for a T'IF <br />for Governor's Village. Mr. Brett said he would tlunk legislation would be coming up <br />in June or July and requested this item be included on the Caucus agenda. He <br />explained the request is similar to what we gave Progressive. He is available to discuss <br />the particulars and to answer questions. It would give the Village one quarter million <br />dollars in present day value (over 30 years.) <br />Recreation - Mr. Thomas said the Recreation Board interviewed 11 Mayfield High <br />School seniors for the Debbie Hudacko Scholarship Fund. We have 4 candidates we <br />will recommend for a scholarship. Mr. Thomas said he was impressed with all the <br />students interviewed. The playground equipment is arriving today or tomorrow. He <br />would like to do a July 1' ribbon-cutting for the playground. It would not be as big a <br />celebration as the opening of Parkview Pool. They had the draft for softball. They have <br />a good volunteer staff and are ready to roll. They will start practice on May 22. <br /> <br /> <br />
