MINUTES OF A SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
Mayfield Village
September 9, 2002
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Caucus Session on Monday, September 9, 2002, at
9:45 p.m. in the Mayfield Village Community Room. Council President Buckholtz presided.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Council President Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt,
Mr. Marrie, Mrs. Mills, and Dr. Parker
ABSENT: Mr.Ilacqua
ALSO PRESENT: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr,
Mr. Samac, Chief Stevens, Mr. Thomas, and Mrs. Roman
• Snow Removal
Council President Buckholtz said this was discussed at Caucus. We talked about raising the
price $25 to $100 based on the increases that we've fielded. We talked about one of the 4
bidders being much higher and was it worth going out to bid again and it seems like we should
just keep the package together so we can continue to offer the service should we have a
particularly bad winter. Any other comments on that?
Dr. Parker asked, when we look at how we distribute the sections, is there consideration given as
to how big the job is versus how much the snow plower is being paid? In other words, if there is
an area where the driveways tend to be larger, is that necessarily given to the higher bidder or is
it just very random?
Mrs. Cinco said the Echo Drive area is bigger and that's probably why they came in [higher].
Mrs. Roman said the contractor was high last year. That is why I gave him a few more of the
larger driveways. Normally I try to divide it -it's very hard to divide between who has the
larger driveways and keep everyone with so many on Wilson Mills, so many on S.O.M.-I try to
divide up the main streets.
Council President Buckholtz said it does make sense to give Royalcare the more difficult work.
Mr. Marquardt, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to accept the snow plowing bids as they
stand and to raise the resident rate from $75 to $100.
Mrs. Roman asked Mr. Hanculak if one motion is sufficient.
Mr. Hanculak said yes.
