PRD Meeting
11-25-02
Page 11
Mr. Marrie said yes, it's here somewhere; they talked about that.
Mr. Samac said in any event, the motion that was voted upon was to approve a minimum project
size of 4 contiguous acres. And what happened was that motion was denied and the
recommendation to go to Council for them-for you-to come up with a number that we can
agree on, I guess.
Council President Buckholtz said on May 13--you have something dated May 13-it's a
memo-that lists-not that I want to name names or anything-it gives a breakdown of what
everybody-and there were 2 people that said 3 would be fine. May 13, 2002, it's a memo from
you to the Mayor and the Planning Commission members-below are comparisons of various
items of proposed plans-and it gives, you know, all kinds of comments on this code;
redundancy-certain redundancies-I don't know if those were taken out but on the project
size there's a maximum density and a minimum acres and each person gave their opinion. I
mean if that question is going to continue to come up and you want to know, there is a
breakdown.
Mr. Riter said Mr. President, I don't think so. I think people were allowed to voice their
opinions at various meetings but the end result and what you look at is the vote. So, I think Mr.
Marrie is absolutely correct-September 9th there were 3 people that wanted 4 acres and 3
people that wanted 5 acres.
Council President Buckholtz said right. And somebody was asking the background on it or the
discussion that lead to that. I think you said nobody wanted less than that.
Mr. Riter said no, no, no. I originally-Bernie had said that some people wanted less than that;
some people wanted more than that. When you got to the September 9th vote, when the 6 people
all stood; 3 said we want 4; the other 3 said they want 5....
Council President Buckholtz said it came down to limiting it to 2 possibilities....
Mrs. Cinco said exactly.
Mr. Riter said right.
Council President Buckholtz said that's fine. Just if people wanted the background, it was in this
package.
Mr. Samac said I'm not even so sure the other 3 wanted 5; they may have wanted 6 but for sure
only 3 wanted 4 (if that makes sense.)
Mrs. Cinco said so Council needs to discuss this tonight and come up with a number that we....
Mr. Samac said yes; it ended up being left up to Council. Part B of that Section 1159.05 talks
about the maximum density and what I really wanted to point out to everyone here tonight
(because I just picked it up while I was reviewing it preparing for this a little bit and getting
