PRD Meeting
11-25-02
Page 22
aesthetics and the character of Mayfield Village and so that's why I am asking these questions as
far as-and that's why I am feeling so restrictive as far as the acreage and the units per size,
whether it's built today or 20 years from now, what we put down is going to affect it. And I
don't want to see, necessarily, in Highland Heights or let some other communities dictate what
our decision is. I think we need to be looking further ahead down the road as to the quality of
these developments and how long people stay and what people invest in them. So that's where
I'm going with that; anyway I'm done.
Mr. Farmer said Steve, that P&Z vote is misleading on the acreage; I mean, we punted on that.
mean we couldn't come to an agreement on that. Really that 4-acre and 5-acre numbers, those
are compromises that we were hoping we could hit on. We ranged from, some people were
comfortable with 3 acres and some wanted 20 acres-so it's not like we were all real close on 4
and 5 acres and it was kind of like an attempt to compromise and we couldn't even do that.
Dr. Parker said and that's what I'm trying-that's what I am gripping with-the difference
between those 2 compromises and where it stands and how that reflects. So, I appreciate that.
Mrs. Cinco said they had many hours of discussion on that.
Dr. Parker said I understand that, Joanne, that's irregardless.
Mr. Samac said one of the other things I think everyone should keep in the back of their mind,
also, with these developments--at least in my mind, the areas that are conducive in my mind to
doing this type of thing, you could almost be guaranteed that every site plan that comes in here
before us one way or another is going to be looking for a variance of some type.
Mr. Samac and Mrs. Cinco said it's just the nature of it.
Mr. Samac said every lot is, again most of these lots, while they may have some real good
aesthetic views because of the topography, are going to hamstring in other ways as far as
setbacks and stuff like that. So, it's something-the setbacks and that have a pretty good
governing factor as far as density is concerned, also.
Mr. Mamie and Mr. Samac said it pretty much sets the tone for it.
Mr. Samac said but on the other hand, maybe what's so bad about something that's crammed in
there a little bit when you are looking at something else that's part of that development that's
really something that's pleasing to the people who want to live there.
Mrs. Mills said I wouldn't think a developer would want to build something that he is not going
to be able to sell.
Mr. Samac said no, of course not.
Mrs. Mills said you have to figure in what the economy is and everything else. I mean there's a
lot of things that come into play when you are developing.
