Regular Council Meeting
12-16-02
Page 20
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 2002-44, entitled; "An emergency ordinance to appropriate a fee
simple interest in and to the premises more fully described below and in the exhibits attached hereto
for public street purposes." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills started to move to suspend.
Council President Buckholtz said I was going to say before anybody-but I thought if we had any
questions and I just had a couple quick ones we could add it-I just wanted to comment that I think
the Mayor had an excellent idea of leaving it on first read and keep it until the end of the year. I
have no problem with that-the extra special meeting for it. Mr. Neugebauer, if I could just ask you
for a quick update. I understand we already have one person in the audience as the Mayor pointed
out that's off the list. Do you see some other people that we'll be able to potentially negotiate over
the next week or 10 days?
Mr. Neugebauer said for those who don't know yet, I'm also referred to as Gerard earlier in the
meeting. I've looked over the list and just modified it before I came up to the meeting. The total
now is 14 that remain. Based on the tenor of negotiations, I look it to be about 5 which I really think
will go to appropriation-which means I would expect a reduction of the number by 9 more by the
end of the month. Things could change and there is activity going on as we speak and we're doing
all we can to take everybody's interests into account. I'm becoming quite close to all these right
now as we get towards the end. So, that's how I see it.
Council President Buckholtz said thank you; well I certainly think it's worth the wait so that when
we pass it into law we have as few people in there as possible.
Mr. Riter asked how many of the remaining 14 are actually residences and how many are
businesses? Do you have that offhand?
Mr. Neugebauer said I don't break it down that way but I can quickly go down the list. (Several
council members were counting with Mr. Neugebauer.) So it looks to be about half and half, I
would say.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any other questions?
There were no comments.
Council President Buckholtz said okay; so we'll leave that on a first read until the Special Meeting.
Standby, don't leave town. Thank you, Gerard.
~!
1
Ordinance No. 2002-44 to remain on first reading.
