Council President Pro Tem Williams called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.in. . ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Marquardt; Mr. Meyers, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker Mr. Schutt and Mr. VJilliams Also Present: Mayor Bodnar;.Mr. Wynne, Mr: Coyne; Mr. Cappello, Chief.Carcioppolo, Sergeant 1Vliller, Mr: Marrelli, Mr. Metzung,. Mr. McAvinew; Ms. Wolgamuth and Mrs. Betsa Absent: ` Mr. Saponaro (Excused) The Pledge of Allegiance:.to the Flag was given. . Motion fo excuse Couricil President Saponaro from this evening's meeting.. Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Schutt, made a motion to excuse Council President Saponaro from this eyening's meeting. . . Council President Pro Tem Williams asked, discussion? Mr. Marquardt asked, what is the puzpose of this? Mr. Coyne replied, it was requested by Council President. Mr. Marquardt stated, it does not make any sense. Mr. Coyne replied, as a procedural matter for a legislative body, it's iiot unusual_ that you make that recognition. If. an elected official misses enough meetings; Council can take other action.. aiid I think it's a recogtlition that you are acknowledgirig his absence for personal reasons and you accept if or you don't if you think it's for reasoiis that are inconveniencing the Council. It's your call. Dr. Parker asked, so, .is it known as personal reasons and we. say okay? Or are we going to be delving iiito people's reasons in depth and start inicromanaging those kind_ of things or what? If's okay with me that he's not ]iere, but I just don't kriow whether I ain supposed to start asking if it's personaI and for" what personaT reasons it is or if I should be. In the 22 years I have been here, this is the first time we have ever done this. .
