Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council ,
Monday, June 18, 2018
Page 19 .
Council President Saponaro, asked, IVIrs. Echt, anything to. add? -
Mrs. Echt replied, no, thank you. -
Council President Saponaro stated, Chief Edelman, I know that you have provided some
comments on this. Can you just summarize them from.your perspective?.
Chief Edelmari stated, from'tfie Police Department's perspecfive, the traffic -lias always
been an issue.on Highland Road- being a two-lane street and response to emergencies is
always an issue when you have heavy traffic. That's always been my concern. I am not
sure that that would.be alleviated or made more .difficult by. this housing developmerit.
One way or another, it's not going to help us or inake it more difficult, but traffc on
Highland Road is a concern. . '
Council.President Saporiaro stated; and that traff.c sfudy is what you are trying to get to tlie
bottorri of it?
Chief Edelman-replied, I sh,ould have it in.another week or so.
Council President Saponaro stated, all righf. And from Fire Departme.nt's perspective?.
Chief Edelinan replied, according to Chief C'arcioppolo, Fire willnot be affected one way
,.
or another with this.
Council President Saponaro stated, okay. Members of Council, anyone .have any questions
to. the Department Heads or comments they would :like to make or, questions they would
like to ask? '.
Nlrs: Mills asked, Toin,. in your reportirig; would ariyone like tlie Corps of Engineers get
involved in that because of,the retention ponds and whatev'er? .
Mr. Cappello replied, first of all, I' checked the FEMA website. They have tlie. current
` records of our locations of 100 year flood plains. There are none on that property: Tliere's.
a 500 year flood plain; but that's not regulated by the yillage: We have an ordinarice for
anything tliat affects a 100 year floo.d plain.: If thexe was anything to do :with the creek or
stream wliich again I am nof aware of on that property and they had to relocate it, the
Corps would get iiivolved: If there's wetlands and they have to mitigate, potentially the
Corps of Eilgineers, but also the EPA`would need to get involved. So those are all the
process of wheii you have a plan to design. We get aplan to design' and then ieview it and
those are all the items they would have to address based on that: I hope that answers your
question..
Mrs. Mills asked, so what.you are saying is that you are not aware that any of tllis property
is in a flood plain?
