Minutes of the Regulax Meeting of Council
Monday, January 28, 2019
Page 10 Motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of $7,000 to 911 Cellular, LLC for
911 Cellular Services for 2019. (Ordinance 2016-29) (Police Department)
Mrs. Mills; seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to authorize expenditure in the amount
of $7,000 to 911 Cellular, LLC for 911 Cellular Services for 2019. (Ordinance 2016-29) (Police
Department)
Council President Saponaro asked, discussion? Chief, I know that we have talked about this, but
just so people that have not signed up, we can at least get something in our Minutes with the
information.
Chief Edelman replied, sure. The County has a 911 system which is virtually used for
cellphones. What the Cellular 911 does is it pinpoints your location not only horizontally but
vertically. If you are in a building, it can tell us what floor you are on, almost to what room you
are in in the building if you use the app to alert us that you are having an emergency, whether it's
police, fire or EMS. It's very effective. It works within 3 meters. It can tell us where you are. We have the ability to geolocate within certain parameters. It's a tremendous system for police,
fire and.EMS. The cities around us have started using it. So with them; we have the ability to
widen our geofencing to include Highland Heights, Mayfield Heights and the other cities around
us. The more communities that use Cellular 911, the more effective it becomes. We were the
first one in this area to use it. So far so good. It's been very successful.
A resident asked, what do we need to do to use this?
Chief Edelman replied, all you have to do is download the app, it's free.
And what's it called?
Chief Edelman replied, it's called Cellular 911, Your 911. If you call my dispatch center at 461-
1234, we can walk you through it. Council President Saponaro sta.ted, thank you Chief. Any other discussion?

There was none.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Expenditure Authorized
1Vlotion to authorize expenditure in the amount of S7,560.00 to Treasurer, State of
Ohio, for 1WIARCS radio services for 2019.
