Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, September 23, 2019
Page 2
has also purchased some pressure gages that we will install on Village Trails hydrants so that we
can monitor the water pressure in that area more easily and pursuant to the advice we got from
our engineer as well as several others, we are going to recommend to residents that they install a
pressure regulator valve and expansion tank on their own units. We have sent all of the necessary
information for individuals who have damages to our insurance company. They have not yet
made a determination but we are keeping in contact with them about the damages and should be
getting a letter out this week to residents in the area to apprise them of what's going on. That is
moving forward in a good way at this point.
I also wanted to commend the Community Partnership on Aging. Yesterday was our Walk and
Stroll with the Mayors. We had four out of the five Mayors in the Community Partnership there
along with our own Councilman, Mr. Meyers. The walk started right here at the Civic Center
and then we walked past the Fire Station and the 911 Memorial and the Gazebo and through our
trail and then came back and had lunch. It was a lovely event. NOPEC was a corporate sponsor
so I thank them. The money that was raised yesterday will go to the Safe at Home program.
Kudos to the Community Partnership on Aging.
OPEN PORTION
— For Public Comment (5 -minute limit imposed by Chair)
There was no discussion.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
Mary Betsa (Council) —
Upcoming events
Everyone should have received information about the Hall of Fame and VIP Celebration on
Thursday, October 241h. If anyone would like me to make a reservation for them, please let me
know.
House Bill 9 Training
The requirements for designating a representative to attend Sunshine Law Training has changed.
Instead of accepting letters of designation for those Council members who are unable to attend
the training session, we now have to have it as part of the record in the Minutes that I or someone
else be designated to attend in their stead. At this time, there are two Council members who are
unable to attend the House Bill 9 Training, Mr. Marquardt and Dr. Parker. I will be attending
before their term ends this year.
